+ Free ShippingFounded in 1989, Daniel Roth is recognized as a pioneering brand in the independent watchmaking industry, which has since expanded significantly with the emergence of brands like Urwerk, MB&F, and Richard Mille, all building on the groundwork laid by Daniel Roth. Known for their unique style, innovative designs, and technical excellence, the watchmaker quickly gained prominence in the 1990s, ascending to the highest levels of horology. With a strong design identity and an impressive history of creating high-end timepieces, the brand was sold to BVLGARI in 2000, just a year after BVLGARI acquired Gerald Genta’s brand, another rising force in the independent watchmaking world.
Daniel Roth has witnessed a significant surge in interest, garnering attention in numerous auctions and articles as time progresses. While the brand’s initial offerings are no longer considered budget-friendly, the few remaining accessible references still hold their own as captivating options. These timepieces, within reach for some, possess a unique allure that sets them apart from the norm.
Launched in the early 2000s, shortly after the BVLGARI acquisition, the Datomax we have here echoes the designs of Daniel Roth’s earlier and most collectible timepieces. It features an 18kt yellow gold ellipsocurvex case in Daniel Roth’s oversized 38mm x 41mm size, complemented by a beautiful guilloche dial. This model’s silver dial showcases a blend of textures and retains Daniel Roth’s renowned blued steel hands. However, the Datomax also introduces a set of enlarged black Roman numerals, adding a distinctive touch that signifies the beginning of BVLGARI’s ownership of the brand. With a large date aperture at 12 o’clock and a seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, the Datomax’s design is visually appealing and, thanks to its classic Daniel Roth proportions, comfortable to wear.
