IWC introduced the Ingenieur in 1955, but the watch family is most closely linked to renowned designer Gérald Genta. In the 1970s, Genta redefined the Ingenieur with the SL, Reference 1832, showcasing his vision of a stainless steel luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet.

The Ingenieur Automatic 40 pays homage to Genta’s iconic design while incorporating modern advancements in ergonomics, finishing, and technology. Crafted from stainless steel, its case, bezel, and integrated H-link bracelet with a butterfly folding clasp feature a refined combination of polished and satin-finished surfaces. The ergonomics of both the case and bracelet have been meticulously reworked for enhanced comfort, ensuring an excellent fit even on slender wrists. Additionally, the 40-millimeter case and newly engineered middle-link attachment contribute to superior wearability. Completing the design, the signature round bezel is secured to the casing ring with five polygonal screws.
