The concept of the DeVille was first introduced in 1960, albeit not as a distinct entity; its name isn’t explicitly used. It wasn’t until 1963 that the DeVille insignia was seen for the first time on an Omega dial. Finally, in 1967, the DeVille evolved into its own standalone collection, earning its own dedicated section in the Omega catalog.
In the 1970s, the Omega De Ville won a couple of awards: the Grand Prize ‘Triumph of European Excellence’ awarded by the Committee of European Excellence and ‘Six Golden Roses’ at the Baden-Baden Design Awards.
Here we have a rare, fine, and elegant Omega De Ville ref. 511.0378, produced in the 1970s. The watch is housed in a rectangular 18k white gold-plated steel case, which houses a thin and reliable in-house manual wound Cal. 625.
